Gillian Brown, a Registrations Clerk within our Property Team in Hamilton jumped with joy as she took part in a charity zip slide across the Clyde on Saturday 25 August raising over £665 with several offline donations still to be added. She would like to thank everyone within the community who has donated.
On the day Gillian was raised in a little metal carriage by a crane to around 155ft before stepping off into thin air and scooting 700ft across the River Clyde at speeds of around 40mph. She was the last person to jump and said the whole experience was over within 15 seconds.
Gillian quotes ‘my gran suffered in her later years from this illness and I wanted to raise funds to help others. I was excited to do it and terrified at the same time especially arriving on the day and watching others do it from such a height. I felt very nervous going up in the crane but once I was out and on the line, the feeling was immense. I am proud to have raised so much money for a cause so dear to me and my family’. She is keen to sign up again next year and was supported on the day by family and friends. We are all delighted that she was able to take part.
Nicholas quotes ‘Well done Gillian – this is a great achievement and we are all so proud of you. Good on you for facing your fear of heights in front of all your family and friends and embracing the zip slide across the River Clyde. Alzheimer Scotland is a charity close to all our hearts. Scullion LAW are proud to be a dementia friendly law firm and throughout September and October we are giving everyone in the community 20% off Powers of Attorney and donating £20 from every one created to the charity. In addition to this we are giving everyone a FREE living will. This is the second year we have supported Alzheimer Awareness month and we are happy to be trained Dementia Friends. If you would like to sponsor Gillian you can do so here (hyperlink) https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/gillian-brown54. Meanwhile I will be running the Scottish 10K Great Run on 30 September for Alzheimer Scotland – so I am looking forward to that. More details to follow’.
Gillian is encouraging colleagues, family members and friends to sign up next year. If you are keen just keep an eye on the Alzheimer Scotland events page for more details.
