Community Contribution Winners

We at Scullion LAW were delighted to recently win the prestigious Community Contribution Award at the Scottish Legal Awards 2019.

This is our 6th national legal award and the one we treasure most because it celebrates the individual committments and efforts from the hard working people in our team. We were recognised for our fundraising efforts over the last 12 months, some highlights include Nicholas and Nigel Sleeping in the Park (raising money and awareness for homelessness), Nicholas running 10k for Alzheimer Scotland (to help people living with dementia) and Diana running 10k for SiMba (to raise awareness of infant loss). Emma, Mohammed, Stuart and Nigel took part in a charity football tournament for Haven, South Lanarkshire. Emma hosted a coffee morning in Hamilton with Marie Curie. Gillian Brown did a zip slide across the River Clyde raising over £1000 for Alzheimer Scotland. Judith planted bulbs with her family in the local community gardens Cadzow Glen to ensure it was safe and pretty for others to enjoy. And most importantly our team are all trained Dementia Friends.

In addition to all these individual efforts our team have been working together to support Marie Curie for the last 5 years.

We have completed over 600 FREE Wills and raised a substantial amount of future income for the charity to help people living with a terminal illness (not just cancer). This is the initiative of which we are most proud. We are running this campaign again throughout Spring and it is available to everyone aged 55 and over throughout Scotland. If you would like to find out more about this you can do so here.

In addition to the FREE Will scheme we have been running a local interschool’s debating competition for 10 successful years. This will be running again in November and we hope that it is going to continue growing from strength to strength.  We are here to support the people living and working around us as best we can by making a positive difference in any way we can. We do not have large sponsorship budgets but what we lack in investment we make up for by giving our time, energy and passion to causes close to our heart.

On the 28 April 2019 a few of us will be taking part in the KILTWALK 23 miles from Glasgow Green to Loch Lomond. Wish us luck!!

Thank you to everyone who has supported our efforts so far.
